Easy Korean Beef Bowl

This Easy Korean Beef Bowl is a simplified version of Korean Bibimbop and is full of flavor. It is also very versatile in the types of veggies used. Great for any weeknight dinner!

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 3 cloves of garlic minced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 medium carrot cut into small strips/matchsticks
  • 2 green onions thinly sliced
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 3-4 cups cooked steamed white or brown rice
  • sesame seeds sprinkle

Toppings/Optional Additions:

  • sunny-side up egg
  • kimchi can be store bought or home made
  • kochujang Korean red chili paste
  • red leaf lettuce if you want lettuce wraps
  • ssamjang fermented soy bean and kochujang dipping sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic thinly sliced
  • any other veggies

Instructions
 

  • In a medium pan brown the ground beef with vegetable oil until cooked through, about 5 minutes.
  • After draining the grease add in soy sauce, sesame oil, brown sugar, carrots, 1/2 the green onions, and salt and pepper.
  • Let simmer for a few minutes then pour into a bowl over steamed white or brown rice and top with rest of the green onions and a sprinkle of sesame seeds to garnish.
  • Serve immediately, can add a sunny-side up eggs and/or additional toppings.
