• Red, White, and Blue Layered Cake

    Today I wanted to share the cake we baked and decorated for last year’s Independence Day celebration.  From the outside it looked like a typical cake.  My oldest frosted it himself with a homemade caramel frosting from a recipe his grandma gave to us and was delicious. Hence the light brown color. Inside the cake, however, was the surprise.  When you cut into the cake you could see the layers of the cake were red, white, and blue.  Fun!  The cake was a hit at the party, it tasted great, and was pretty simple to make.     Hello there and happy Thursday!  Are you all ready for the 4th of July holiday that is coming up in little more than a week?     Hi everyone, hope you had a great start to the week!  The warm weather is finally starting to set in here meaning hot coffee drinks will be replaced with cold beverages.  A favorite refreshing summer drink for me is an iced chai latte which is cool, creamy, and light with hints of spices. As easy as it is to order iced chai from a Starbucks or Caribou coffee shop and feed my addiction love of iced chai, it most certainly also feeds a growing hole in my wallet with a large iced chai easily costing around $4.  So, my solution to this craving?
