Christmas Eve Boxes
One of the best parts of the holiday season are the traditions we do every year as a family. One of those traditions I started with our kids years ago was opening Christmas Eve Boxes the night before Christmas and it is a tradition we all look forward to every year! *updated links for 2022 What is a Christmas Eve Box? A Christmas Eve Box is a box the kids open on Christmas Eve night that contains things like new pajamas, socks, hot chocolate, and goodies for watching movies. The kids wear their new pajamas to bed that night, and we also include one new movie to be watched Christmas morning as a…

Summer Bucket List
It is officially summer! That means sun, outdoor meals, walks and finding ways to entertain the kids at home. That’s where a Summer Bucket List comes in handy. Although this summer will look different than past summers with various closings and policies, there are still plenty of activities to do and places to visit that are safe and fun. Below I’m sharing some of our favorite summer activities, a printable copy of our personal Summer Bucket List that is FREE to download, as well as a Free blank document you can fill out on your own. I kept the color minimal as I am someone who seems to always run out of color…

DIY Outdoor Sectional Couch
Fall always brings to mind very specific thoughts: hot chai tea lattes, cozy sweaters, snuggling around a bonfire or wrapped up in a blanket on our patio. Over the summer while working on putting together a comfortable and fun patio to hang out on we realized we needed to have adequate seating for the large parties we host throughout the summer and fall. What better seating than an outdoor sectional couch?! A new patio set easily runs $2,000-$3,000 which seemed outrageous to me so I looked into what it would take to build a DIY outdoor sectional from scratch. About a week later I created this! Here it is in all its pillow…

Organizing for Back to School
It is that time of year when stores open their gates to neverending supplies, the mailbox starts getting letters with school info for the kids, and I start looking at the calendar to try and squeeze in a few more days of outings with the kids before summer ends. This year I will have two of my four kiddos in school, a middle school first timer and a second grader. I wanted to share some hacks and tips I have in organizing and preparing for school to make the transition into this fall easier and better (or at least a little bit better! lol). I’ll also link some of the items that help…

No Meat May Update
Hello all! Just wanted to give an update on how having no meat in May has been going. If you missed my post where I explained what my husband and I are doing and why, read about it here where I explain some of the benefits and resources I found that back why we decided to go a month without eating meat. So far it has been going great! Now, it is not to say it has gone without challenge, especially since we both typically ate some form of meat on a daily basis prior to this month. For the most part we’ve been able to easily substitute other foods and seafood in place…

What, No Meat?!
My husband and I are definitely what you would call meat eaters. We love our steaks, bulgogi (Korean BBQ), chicken wings, and typically have some sort of meat at every evening meal. Shoot, our family even hosts a rib cooking contest every 4th of July to put our meat eating into perspective. So why am I talking about our indulgence of meat and the glory of us being proud carnivores? Because the hubby and I have decided to forgo meat for the month of May. Yes, I said it. NO MEAT. What? WHY?! Are you CRAZY?! I had no idea that sharing our decision with some friends and family would be faced with so…

Turmeric Paste for Golden Milk
Golden Milk, or Turmeric Tea, is a warm drink with lots of health benefits and if you are like me and enjoy drinking it more often than not, you know it can take some extra time putting all of the ingredients together to simmer on the stove. So to save some time I make turmeric paste and store it in the fridge so I can make it quickly any time I am craving a warm, soothing drink. The paste is made with the main ingredients of golden milk: turmeric, ground pepper, coconut oil, and cinnamon. Now just add it to heated milk, honey to your taste, and drink away. It is simple, incredibly tasty,…

Golden Milk
Golden Milk, also known as Turmeric Tea, is a drink that I absolutely love for both its relaxing and warm properties as well as its amazing health benefits. Although most health circles are currently trending this flavorful beverage, the health benefits of turmeric have been around for a long time. I drink this golden milk at least once a week and if I have even a slight tickle in my throat I make sure to make a mug of the soothing drink. The crazy thing about it is that I am rarely ever sick and if I do catch a little cold I overcome it quickly, and I attribute it to golden milk.…

Minimalism: Our Journey on Simplifying Our Life
Minimalism. What does that word mean to you? For many people it sounds scary, a way of life that forces you to be rid of all earthly possessions and live with absolutely nothing but two outfits, one coffee mug, and your tooth brush. Or maybe you think it is living with only a certain number of items and getting rid of everything else. Perhaps you think it means living in one of those tiny houses that has been trending on television shows lately. I know for me, these are what I thought minimalism was and it did scare me. A lot. When I came across articles on social media promoting minimalism I would…
