DIY Outdoor Sectional Couch
Fall always brings to mind very specific thoughts: hot chai tea lattes, cozy sweaters, snuggling around a bonfire or wrapped up in a blanket on our patio. Over the summer while working on putting together a comfortable and fun patio to hang out on we realized we needed to have adequate seating for the large parties we host throughout the summer and fall. What better seating than an outdoor sectional couch?! A new patio set easily runs $2,000-$3,000 which seemed outrageous to me so I looked into what it would take to build a DIY outdoor sectional from scratch. About a week later I created this! Here it is in all its pillow…

Organizing for Back to School
It is that time of year when stores open their gates to neverending supplies, the mailbox starts getting letters with school info for the kids, and I start looking at the calendar to try and squeeze in a few more days of outings with the kids before summer ends. This year I will have two of my four kiddos in school, a middle school first timer and a second grader. I wanted to share some hacks and tips I have in organizing and preparing for school to make the transition into this fall easier and better (or at least a little bit better! lol). I’ll also link some of the items that help…

Minimalism: Our Journey on Simplifying Our Life
Minimalism. What does that word mean to you? For many people it sounds scary, a way of life that forces you to be rid of all earthly possessions and live with absolutely nothing but two outfits, one coffee mug, and your tooth brush. Or maybe you think it is living with only a certain number of items and getting rid of everything else. Perhaps you think it means living in one of those tiny houses that has been trending on television shows lately. I know for me, these are what I thought minimalism was and it did scare me. A lot. When I came across articles on social media promoting minimalism I would…

This Week’s Top 5
This week everything that surrounds me is full of fall: the colors, the smells, the sounds, the food. What solidified the season change and made it official was our family visiting the local apple orchard which included a pumpkin patch. As we all enjoyed the beautiful (dare I say hot?!) day at the orchard this past weekend, I started thinking about the savory meals, decor, and accessories that include fall produce such as squash, apples, and pumpkin. Here are my Top 5 things I’m obsessing over this week. 1. The Soup Via My Recipes I was perusing through a health magazine online and came across this recipe for a Roasted Tomato and Garlic Soup.…

This Week’s Top 5
As the temperatures begin to cool off I am seeing new products tailored to the change in season everywhere including food, decor, and of course clothes. Here I have rounded up my top 5 things I am loving for this transition into fall. 1. The Bootie. Octagon Wedge Bootie Via Ok, all bootie(y) jokes aside, booties seem to be the hottest shoe for the season. They are comfortable, stylish, versatile and also keep the toes warm in the cool air. Keep an eye out for an upcoming post dedicated to the bootie for the next Fashion Friday. 2. The Mantel. Via Sandansisal.com The change in seasons is always a great excuse to change up home decor…

Healthy Snack… and Art
Hi everyone, hope you had an amazing weekend! Ours was filled with sun, some rain, a car show, a flooded park (Mississippi River is slightly overflowing in some places right now) and veggie art! Veggie art? Yes, who knew that vegetables could make way to some fun kid art! Now that the kids are home for the summer I’m always on the lookout for snacks to have on hand that are easy for the kids to grab and go, but are also healthy and inexpensive. I have been working on getting into the habit of washing and cutting fruits and vegetables as soon as we bring them home from the store because I know…

End of School and Teacher Gift
Wow, its that time already where school is coming to a close and summer is ready to begin! My oldest had his last day of school on Friday and of course wanted to give his teachers a special personalized gift. As a teacher myself, its always nice to get a personalized gift from a student! We thought long and hard and came up with a quick and easy teacher gift that we know they’ll love and be able to use. All we needed was some Glade candles, ribbon, and foam stickers. The Glade candles were about $5 for two and the ribbon was $1 in the dollar section. The foam letters were from our craft closet.…
